Dr. Amarjot Surdhar
With years of experience at Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital as the Medical Director for the Addiction Recovery Services Dual diagnosis, outpatient clinic, Dr. Surdhar brings expertise in treating patients at academic institutions. With the eastern philosophies blending with the western medication treatments, Dr. Surdhar brings the best balance of the interventions from both cultures.
Dr. Surdhar has experience working in the outpatient clinic as well as the Psychiatric Emergency Room (CPEP) dealing with acute crises, supervising mobile crisis teams, providing supervision to other doctors, and training them in crisis handling and de-escalation, sometimes life-threatening, and often for drug or alcohol use-related emergencies as well. This vast and varied experience makes Dr. Surdhar prepared to handle a lot of crises and be able to give insights and advice for the best possible outcomes.
Dr. Surdhar has a humanistic approach and utilizes strategies and techniques that include motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and CBT as the basis of most engagements.
